– Prepare for the Sea with SWIMSMART
Open-water swimming offers an incredible sense of freedom, but swimming confidently and efficiently in the sea requires more than just being a strong pool swimmer. Different conditions, navigation, breathing, sighting and adapting your stroke can all present new challenges.
At SWIMSMART, I use pool-based coaching to help experienced and intermediate swimmers develop the technical skills and confidence needed to make the transition into open-water and sea swimming.
Build the Right Technique Before You Hit the Water
The swimming pool provides an excellent environment to work on the technical elements that will make a difference when you head outdoors. Without having to contend with waves, currents or changing conditions, we can concentrate on developing an efficient and adaptable stroke.
I'll help you work on important aspects of your swimming, including body position, balance, rotation, breathing, stroke timing and maintaining a consistent rhythm. We'll also look at techniques particularly relevant to open-water swimming, such as sighting, bilateral breathing and adapting your stroke to different conditions.
Video Analysis to Understand Your Swimming
Video analysis is a valuable part of my coaching approach. By reviewing your stroke, I can identify technical habits and areas for improvement that may be difficult to recognise when you're swimming. We'll use this information to make targeted adjustments, helping you become a more efficient swimmer and better prepared for the demands of open water.
Take Your Swimming Beyond the Pool
Whether you're preparing for your first open-water event, training for a triathlon, planning a sea swimming challenge or looking to become more efficient over longer distances, pool-based coaching can give you a valuable foundation.
My aim is to help you develop the skills, technique and understanding to approach open-water swimming with greater confidence and control.
Based in Chichester, I work with swimmers across Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and beyond.
Improve your technique in the pool, build your confidence and get ready to enjoy everything open-water swimming has to offer.
